Overview
12 month gastric balloon can be applied safely and cost-effectively in Turkey through the endoscopy method. The procedure takes approximately 20-25 minutes and initially checks for any discomfort in the abdominal area that could create an obstacle using an endoscopic camera. If no abnormalities are detected, a soft and flexible silicone elastomer gastric balloon is placed in the stomach. After being placed in the stomach, a catheter is used to fill the balloon with blue liquid, and the procedure is completed.
During this procedure, patients are kept under sedation to ensure a comfortable experience, and they wake up immediately after the procedure. Patients are observed for 2 hours after the operation and then discharged. Additionally, it should not be forgotten that the balloon can be inflated at 12-month intervals for effective use of the gastric balloon.

Who Is Dr Abdullah Şişik?
Dr. Abdullah Şişik graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2007 and has since had a successful career. After working in various hospitals until 2014, he specialized in obesity surgery and colorectal surgery at Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital from 2014 to 2021. During this time, he performed many obesity surgeries at SBÜ Ümraniye EAH and contributed to the training of residents specializing in this field at the same institution.
Furthermore, he specialized in advanced laparoscopic surgery and had the opportunity to work with Prof. Bruno Dillemans in Belgium in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, Dr. Abdullah Şişik earned the title of Associate Professor. He has published over 50 scientific articles in international and national journals and presented more than 100 papers at international and national congresses.
Since 2021, Dr. Abdullah Şişik has been providing services in his own clinic. He is a globally recognized physician known for his successful surgeries and is among Turkey’s most respected doctors.
