Overview
12 Months Gastric Balloon is applied by endoscopy method. Processing time is approximately 20-25 minutes. First of all, using an endoscopic camera, your abdomen is checked for any discomfort, such as an ulcer, that prevents the procedure. If no abnormality is observed, the balloon made of a soft, flexible silicone elastomer material is deflated and placed in the stomach. When the balloon enters your stomach, it is filled with blue liquid through a small filling tube (catheter) attached to the balloon and the procedure is finished. The balloon begins to float freely in the stomach.It is applied under sedation for a comfortable procedure and the patient is awakened immediately after the procedure. After being kept under observation for 2 hours in the service, the patients are discharged. 12-month balloons can be inflated in 3-month periods to prevent adaptation of the stomach to the balloon.
Who Is Dr Abdullah Şişik?
Dr. Abdullah Şişik graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2007. He worked successfully in various hospitals until 2014.
Between 2014 and 2021, he specialized in obesity surgery and colorectal surgery at Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital. In 2015, he performed the first obesity surgery at SBÜ Ümraniye EAH and conducted over 1,000 obesity surgeries during his time at this institution. He also contributed to the training of residents specializing in obesity surgery at the same institution. He became an expert in advanced laparoscopic surgery. In 2018 and 2019, he had the opportunity to work on obesity surgery with Prof. Bruno Dillemans in Belgium.
In 2019, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor. He has more than 50 scientific articles published in international and national journals and has presented nearly 100 papers at international and national congresses. Since 2021, he continues to provide services at his private clinic.
