When a hernia is starngulated in the inguinal ring, this may cause a life treating condition, so as we always say surgery is the only treatment of an inguinal hernia.
They can easily be treated together simultaneously.
Heavy lifting, chronic straining exercises, chronic caughing, smoking, chronic constipation, previous hernia in the contrary site and some genetic conditions may contribute to a hernia.
No unfortunatelly, inguinal hernias can not be cured with medication or herbs, the only treatment is surgery.
Tubal ligation( ligating the ovarian tubes) in females are not an issue in female inguinal suregry, tubes are located in another place far from surgical site. Male sperm ducts ( Ductus seferens) ligation may be a risk in laparoscopic hernia surgery especially when the surgeon is inexperienced in laparoscopic hernia surgery, but again according to the literature this risk is very low.
